Qualifications: Associate's degree in electronics, computer or biomedical equipment technology, or equivalent training.Two or more years experience working on a wide diversity of medical equipment and systems. Good communication skills to be able to interact with both patients and equipment users (clinical staff). Ability to effectively use a computer to document work efforts. Ability to use electronic test equipment to troubleshoot and repair medical equipment to the board level. Eligibility for ICC (International Certification Commission) as a certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET). Ability to work under the stressful environment created when clinical equipment users (physicians, nurses) mandate that their equipment be repaired in minimal time frames. Ability to work with extremely high voltage and with complex electronics circuitry. Exposure to blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids and air borne contaminants possible. Ability to assume responsibility for on-call pager response and to report to work as assigned at multiple Advocate facilities.
Job Description: Repairs and maintains patient care equipment devices, instruments, systems and related technologies to ensure it's safety and operational performance characteristics. Performs scheduled preventive maintenance according to hospital policies, procedures and industry recognized standards. Maintains documentation of all service events, performance tests and corrective maintenance performed on a wide range of equipment types, including life support, monitoring, diagnostic, therapeutic and general clinical (patient care) devices. Participates in and/or assists with development of departmental and hospital based continuous quality improvement initiatives. Maximizes patient safety by supporting the proper use, application and operational performance of patient care equipment. Accountabilities: 1. CORRECTIVE MAINTENANCE 2. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
