Responsibilities:
Performs moderately and/or highly complex analyses with accuracy and precision, understanding basic and complex principles of methodology Identification and resolution of technical problems related to laboratory methodology, instrumentation, and procedures under direction of the Laboratory Technical Supervisor Performs moderate and/or complex analyses according to laboratory procedure and in accordance with manufacturer's guidelines Utilizes theory and principles of clinical methodology throughout the process Records, reports and monitors all patient analysis data following proper documentation and procedures Utilizes knowledge of LIS, HIS, and computer systems as they apply to the laboratory Prepares and/or handles all laboratory specimens Performs departmental and shift specific duties as required.
Trains new associates and training students as needed Complies with requirements of CAP, Clinical laboratory improvement Act (CLIA) and other regulatory agencies Maintains a clean and safe work area.
Follows established laboratory safety procedures in accordance with those of regulatory bodies such as OSHA, FDA, EPA, etc.
Helps monitor quality control programs, knows parameters and purpose of quality control and applies these within individual laboratory standards Takes appropriate corrective measures when necessary and documents Correlates various clinical laboratory test results:
applies test results to clinical conditions and recognizes accepted normal ranges Initiates follow-up procedures when patient results are outside normal range according to departmental policy Shift operations Under the direction of the Technical Supervisor and Lab Manager, participates in Advocate initiatives including but not limited to Advocate Experience, Associate Engagement Survey, Culture of Safety Coordinates work for associates as needed Serves as communication link between associates, supervisors and senior management Communicates and escalates concerns that occur during the scheduled shift to supervisor for appropriate resolution.
Concerns to include workflow, schedules and associate engagement Maintains close working relationship with department technical specialists where applicable to ensure clear understanding of both administrative and technical expectations Maintains adequate inventory of supplies as required by the department Follows up on backorders, missing, and incorrect orders.
Partners with Material Management to resolve concerns Assures that all supplies are marked with date received, are logged and appropriate labels applied.
Puts supplies away appropriately Orders supplies as required according to hospital policies and procedures Education/experience required Bachelor degree and graduation from a Medical Technology program approved by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or an equivalent program, in a science related field, or documented equivalent education and training (ie MLT with 5 years of laboratory experience in Accrediting Organization, CAP, or any other lab accrediting agency) Two (02) years clinical laboratory experience as a working laboratory professional Knowledge, skills & abilities required Position involves moderate and/or high complexity testing as defined by CLIA '88.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Knowledge of computers with basic understanding of word processing and spreadsheets Thorough knowledge of statistics and ability to apply statistical rules/analysis to laboratory decision-making processes Proven ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks MLS(ASCP), MT(ASCP), MT(AMT) with baccalaureate degree.
ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) categorical certification (BB, C, H, I, M) or a baccalaureate degree where categorical certification in specialty area is not available Physical requirements and working conditions Hazardous chemical exposure and contact with infectious biological specimens and sharps are experienced on a daily basis Ability to lift (medium-up to 20-50 pound occasionally and/or 10 -25 pounds frequently) and use of keyboard and microscope extensively may be required, dependent upon job and shift assignment Prolonged standing, lifting, bending, and telephone use Some instrumentation and work counter are higher than table height Fast paced environment with established time constraints This job description indicates the general nature and level of work expected of the incumbent.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
